Multiple Teams · Freshman Panthers are off to a great start in district play


The CHHS Freshmen Black team has played three district games in the 2016-2017 season. Game 1 was at Dunbar High School on Tuesday, December 19, 2016. The Freshmen lost in triple overtime 87 – 92 with only two players left in the game at the end. Gavin Byers led the team in points with 21, followed by Baylor Hebb with 16 and Brayden Gerlich with 15.

District game 2, on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, was at CHHS vs. Eastern Hills High School where the Panthers beat the Highlanders 69 – 41. Baylor Hebb led the team with 19 points. The third district game was cancelled, on Friday, January 6, 2017, due to inclement weather where the team was scheduled to play Birdville High School.

This past Tuesday, January 10, 2017, the Freshmen Black team, playing at home, beat FW Polytechnic High School 71 – 38 in their fourth scheduled district game. The team was led by Baylor Hebb with 25 points followed by Luke Make with 13 points. Through the first four district games (only three of which were played) the team assist leaders are Brayden Gerlich, Baylor Hebb, and Hudson Brewer while on the defensive side the team leaders are Gavin Byers, Brayden Gerlich, and Derian Jones.

The Freshmen will square off against Grapevine this Friday evening at Grapevine at 6:30pm.
