The transition from middle to high school is one that many players find difficult to make. This group of freshman showed up in a major way and only time will tell if they are the next group of great players from Dallas-Ft. Worth.
Drew Timme- 6’8 Power Forward, Richardson JJ Pearce
Timme was a major contributor for the Mustangs. The 6’8 big man was dynamic on both of the ends of the floor, nearly averaging a double double with 14.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Chris Harris Jr.- 6’2 Combo Guard, South Garland
The story in the pre-season was focused on the dynamic duo of Harris jr. and backcourt mate Tyrese Maxey. When Maxey went down with a season ending injury, Harris jr. went to work. Averaged 17.2 ppg and gave sophomore coach Dominique Parker his first playoff win.
Grant Sherfield- 6′ Point Guard, Mansfield Summit
Sherfield proved to be an elite scorer with a game mature beyond his years. He scored 575 points on the season finishing 3rd in the area with an average of 21.3.
Jalen Wilson- 6’6 Forward, Denton Guyer
Wilson registered impressive stats in three categories, averaging 15.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists as Denton Guyer dethroned Keller as District 5-6A champion.
Justin Webster- 6’2 Combo Guard, Prestonwood
Webster had several moments of explosive scoring and displayed a real knack for getting buckets especially in national showcases. Averaged 16 pints, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game on the way to Prestonwood’s 5th straight state championship.
Isaiah Range- 6’3 Combo Guard, Trinity Christian Cedar Hill
Leading TC-Cedar Hill to its second consecutive state championship,Range dropped 22 points in the TAPPS 3A state championship game. Finished the season with an 18.3 point and 4.3 assist average.
Avery Anderson- 6’2 Point Guard, Justin Northwest
1st team All-District selection in District 5-6A. Led Justin Northwest to a 20-9 record and three round playoff run.
Bryce Cook, South Grand Prairie- Started the entire season for regional finalist South Grand Prairie, averaged 3 assists per game.
Le’Jon Doss, FW Nolan Catholic- Averaged 7 rebounds per game.
Devion Harmon, Denton Guyer- Averaged 4.7 assists per game for district champion.
Bryce Okpoh, The Colony- Was a solid 6th man for 2nd place District 9-5A team.
Tariq Aman, Coppell- Back up point guard for District 7-6A champion.
Niko Bossinakis, Colleyville Heritage – Averaged 14 points per game in district play.
Jayden Williams, FW Nolan Catholic- First team all-district selection.
